Patrick Mahomes Surgically Carves up Miami Dolphins

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes followed up his biggest game in a couple of years with another stat-stuffer against the Miami Dolphins Sunday. He finished the game 20-for-24 for 246 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He completed his first 11 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown. His first incompletion didn’t come until under two minutes remaining in the first half. It was a ball that was bobbled up in the air by a falling Rashee Rice, which was then intercepted.

The Dolphins (0-3) held strong as they entered the fourth quarter down 14-10 before KC pulled away. This was despite losing star running back De’Von Achane (knee) just five plays into the game. The injury left the Dolphins with one healthy running back on the roster, and they had to shift wide receiver Malik Washington into the backfield to spell Ollie Gordon.

Mahomes faced some adversity after he was hit hard in his own end zone and grabbed his lower back for several seconds. The play was flagged for a 15-yard penalty after the defender used his body weight to fall onto Mahomes.

Mahomes connected with eight different receivers, but none more so than Rice, who finished with seven catches for 88 yards. With the win, Mahomes tied Tom Brady for the most wins through their first 150 starts (including postseason) with 115.

The Chiefs fly west to face adversary Maxx Crosby and the Las Vegas Raiders on the road Sunday afternoon in Week 4.
