Things did go according to plan for Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce this season. The Chiefs suffered a devastating 16-13 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15, ending their playoff hopes. This marks was the first time Kansas City failed to secure a postseason berth since 2014.

On top of that, Mahomes suffered a season-ending knee injury in the final moments of the Chargers loss. The two-time NFL MVP underwent surgery to address a torn ACL and LCL in his left knee, forcing him to miss the final three games of the season for the Chiefs.

While things may not have panned out for Mahomes and Kelce on the field this season, these two have found great success away from football. In September, the two Chiefs stars partnered with renowned hospitality group Noble 33 to open their own restaurant in downtown Kansas City, 1587 Prime.

The upscale steakhouse has been a hit among patrons. So much so that some folks have reportedly found it difficult to book a reservation amid the restaurant's packed house.

Not everyone has taken to 1587 Prime's popularity well, though. A recent review by food critic Liz Cook of Defector heavily criticized Mahomes and Kelce's steakhouse for several reasons. Among them is Cook's most significant issue with the restaurant: It "isn’t its child-like idea of luxury. It’s that it’s a steakhouse that doesn’t nail the steaks."

Cook went on to call out 1587 Prime for its overpriced menu. She claimed to have "felt suckered paying $15 for three small ramekins of ketchup … one of which was pure uncut Heinz." She also did not like the restaurant's signature cocktail, writing the "drink tasted like a Cosmo someone had strained through a French Vanilla Yankee Candle."

"Complaining about the prices at 1587 Prime is like complaining about the wind on Mount Everest: predictable, but hardly the worst part of the experience … there is no need for anything this mediocre to cost this much," Cook wrote.

The critic closed out her review by concluding that, "above all, you do not have to ‘come here for the bit.’ The bit just isn’t that interesting.”

As for their football, Kelce and the rest of the Chiefs will be back in action on Sunday for a Week 16 road game against the Tennessee Titans at 1 p.m. ET on CBS. Mahomes, however, will need to watch his teammates try to end their three-game losing streak from his home as he continues to rehab his surgically repaired knee.
