Patrick Peterson 'for sure' will play cornerback for Vikings

When Patrick Peterson agreed to a one-year deal with the Vikings, there was some speculation that the former Cardinal may switch to safety in Minnesota. However, while speaking with reporters, Peterson made it clear that he will still play cornerback for his new team.

"I feel that I still have a good position as far as being in position to make plays at the cornerback position, so I know I can still play at a high level,'' Peterson said, via Chris Tomasson of The Pioneer Press. "So my position will be cornerback for sure.''

Peterson's insistence on remaining at corner makes sense, as it is the only position he has played since he was drafted fifth overall by Arizona in the 2011 draft. Over the next decade, he established himself as one of the NFL's elite cornerbacks, making eight Pro Bowls, three All-Pro First Teams and the 2010s All-Decade Team.

The Vikings hope that Peterson provides a boost to the secondary after they ranked in the bottom 10 for passing yards allowed last season. While Peterson's days as an All-Pro may be in the past, he still certainly can help Minnesota improve on defense and get back into playoff contention this season.
