With just one win over a team in the playoff race, the NFC North-leading Minnesota Vikings have been labeled a pretender by many.
Cornerback Patrick Peterson is among those who took the slander personally, clapping back at Minnesota’s naysayers following the team’s 33-30 overtime win over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
“Look at us now,” Peterson told reporters after the win. “We’re not trying to prove ‘them’ or ‘they’ wrong, we just want to continue to prove ourselves right each and every time we step out on the field because we feel that we are a really good football team that believes in one another. And that showed today. We were down…I believe the largest margin was [17], so if we’re not a good football team, how could you come back from that deficit?”

The Vikings overcame a 17-point deficit with less than two minutes left in the third quarter. It marks their seventh straight win — the longest active winning streak in the NFL — all of which have come in one-score games.
The Vikings now have wins over two of the top five teams in the AFC — Miami and Buffalo.
Peterson intercepted Josh Allen twice — the last of which came in the end zone and sealed the win for Minnesota in overtime — while adding four tackles, three tackles for loss and two pass breakups.
