Patrick Peterson reveals why he continues playing after 12 years

Not a lot of people had the Steelers signing CB Patrick Peterson, who is entering his 13th season, on their bingo card this offseason and he revealed why he wants to continue playing.

"Honestly, I want to win a Super Bowl," Peterson said. "I don't have that yet. I came up close, 2015 with the Arizona Cardinals, but that's my why."

Peterson signing with Pittsburgh came as a surprise because although the team should be competitive in 2023, not many people view the Steelers as true Super Bowl contenders yet.

Pittsburgh did have one of the most active offseasons among the rest of the league and could prove a lot of doubters wrong this season, but Peterson said the team's success falls on the shoulders of one player.

"It's all going to come down to how well Kenny [Pickett] can play and can he put the ball where it needs to go," Peterson added. "I believe he is a guy that we can rely on, a guy that we can count on. Now it's all going to fall on him if he can go out there and show us what he's capable of doing."

Although much of the Steelers' success will ride on how well Pickett plays in year two, Peterson also stated that "defense wins championships" and that the team has "all the pieces that we need on defense."

Peterson may be turning 33 this summer but if he can still play at the level he did in 2022 when he had 66 tackles, five interceptions and 15 passes defensed, he could certainly help Pittsburgh shock the football world in 2023.
