Patriots' 2020 team photo stresses COVID safety measures

2020 has been a year of unprecedented challenges and woes, particularly because of the coronavirus pandemic. It doesn't seem like the United States will be returning to normalcy any time soon, so the New England Patriots decided to do something pretty cool for their team photo.

The Patriots' 2020 team photo shows every player and staff member wearing masks and standing six feet apart, stressing the importance of staying safe during this uncertain time.

To be fair, packing every player and staff member into a small space to take a team photo without masks wouldn't have been reasonable. The NFL surely would've criticized the team for doing it, and so would many fans.

It'll be interesting to see if other teams take their photos like the Patriots did. They certainly should, especially considering plenty of Americans have disregarded various COVID-19 health and safety recommendations.

Showing players taking the virus seriously certainly will help others see that we must remain vigilant as we enter the winter months, and Bill Belichick's squad should be lauded for its efforts.
