The New England Patriots have won six Super Bowls in franchise history, and the team has many players to give credit to for making this happen.
While not to the same extent as some of his teammates, such as Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman, among others, this includes former Patriots defensive lineman Lawrence Guy.
Guy spent seven seasons in New England after signing with the team in 2017 and played a big part on the team's defense. The Las Vegas native helped the Patriots win Super Bowl LIII against the Los Angeles Rams.
On Friday, the Patriots sent a message to Guy, who last suited up for them during the 2023 season, who signed a ceremonial one-day contract to retire with the team.
"Congratulations on your retirement and thank you for everything you did for us, @thatLGUY! ," the Patriots wrote on X.

In addition to his time in New England, Guy played for the Indianapolis Colts, San Diego Chargers, Baltimore Ravens, and Cincinnati Bengals throughout his 13-year career.
Former Patriots head coach Bill Belichick praised Guy in November 2020 for what he brought to the table and the type of impact he made as a member of the team (h/t Mike Dussault of Patriots.com).
"[Lawrence is] physically and mentally one of the tougher players that I've coached, certainly one of those on the team," said head coach Bill Belichick earlier this week. "He's a great example to younger players in terms of just having the mental toughness to go out there and compete and work every day. That's how you get better."
The Arizona State alum was never the most important player on the Patriots' roster during his time with the team, but he still made a big impact throughout his tenure. He played his best football in New England, and it is easy to see why he wanted to officially retire as a member of the team.
On Friday, Guy explained exactly what led to his decision to retire as a Patriot.
"I want to thank the Patriots organization and [Robert Kraft], it's a full circle moment," said Guy. "I wanted to [retire] in New England because New England was my home. It's a blessing that I get to be here to do this."
Guy was once an integral part of New England's defense, and it is heartwarming for him that he gets to officially end his NFL career with the team he won a Super Bowl championship with.
