The New England Patriots have gotten back on the right track after dropping two of their first three games. After five weeks of play, the Patriots are just one game behind the Buffalo Bills for first place in the AFC East.
One area that has been a positive this year is the rushing attack. Last year, New England rushed for the sixth most yards in the league and this year the unit has been just as strong, still sitting in the top 10.
However, it is now going to be shorthanded. During their Week 5 blowout win against the Las Vegas Raiders, TreVeyon Henderson suffered a high ankle sprain.
Henderson sustained the injury in the second quarter and left the game without returning. Rhamondre Stevenson took over as the featured back in his absence.
On Tuesday, an update from ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed that Henderson would be spending some time on the sidelines to recover. While Henderson will not need surgery, he is going to miss multiple weeks. The Patriots hope he can recover quickly.
In the short term though, they are going to need depth beyond just Stevenson, who has been a liability at times with his fumbling issues.
Later on Tuesday, New England addressed that. Schefter added hours later that the Patriots signed Hassan Haskins to their practice squad.

If Haskins performs well he has a chance to be elevated to the active roster for New England’s Week 6 matchup against the New York Jets.
Haskins spent the last two NFL seasons getting touches in the Los Angeles Chargers backfield but averaged under three yards per attempt and has been a free agent up until this point.
He will now look to improve his efficiency if he gets an opportunity in New England.
