Patriots' Christian Barmore had heartwarming reaction after interaction with Chiefs All-Pro
Brian Fluharty-USA TODAY Sports

FOXBOROUGH, Mass - After the New England Patriots game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Christian Barmore had the opportunity to meet one of the players he's always looked up to.

“Chris Jones, that’s my favorite player,” Barmore said. “Chris Jones to me, he’s got the best hands I’ve ever seen. He’s so quick. He’s big. He’s so dominant, especially in the run. And his hands, I like how (he uses) his hands.”

After the game, the two were able to talk for a minute, and Jones gave Barmore something he will never forget.

“He gave me a jersey. I was about to cry,” Barmore said. “I looked up to that man, especially when I was young. That man was so dominant. I’ve seen him in college. I love his style.”

Jones is a four-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro, having also won two Super Bowl championships. This year, he and Barmore are both tied for number of sacks with 8.5 on the season.

And his success this season can be contributed to Jones, with the Patriots defensive tackle having always watched his highlights. And he explained that he learned a lot from him.

With that, his game is starting to get to the same level as Jones. Teams have begun paying more attention to Barmore, covering him more on the line.

And when asked about this, his answer was clear.

“It’s respect. To me, that’s respect," Barmore said. You get two guys on me, three guys on me, that helps my team – makes it easier for them...  Every time, wherever I’m at, my job is to dominate. That’s the goal every time.”
