Patriots Getting Ripped For 'Racist' Coaching Graphic On Social Media

The New England Patriots satisfied the NFL's Rooney Rule less than 48 hours after firing head coach Jerod Mayo. However, the franchise may have been a bit too eager to comply with the league's guidelines.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Patriots announced that interviews with former Houston Texans offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton and former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich have been completed. They posted a photo of both coaches on social media along with the caption "Head Coach Interviews." While this may seem harmless to some people, others are convinced this was a horrible gesture from New England.

Not only do people find it disrespectful that Hamilton and Leftwich were lumped into a single graphic, they think the Patriots purposely interviewed them just to comply with the Rooney Rule.

Over the past few hours, a handful of NFL fans have accused the Patriots of being "racist" for how they handled their latest round of interviews.

"Patriots so racist they lumped Leftwich and Hamilton together in the same completed interview graphic like a point and shooting guard," one fan said.

"Couldn’t even give these guys their own graphics. Shameless," another person replied.

"Combining them into the same graphic is nasty oh my god," a third person wrote.

The Patriots have an opening at head coach after relieving Jerod Mayo of his duties. He went 4-13 in his only season at the helm.

"This whole situation is on me. I feel terrible for Jerod because I put him in an untenable situation," Patriots owner Robert Kraft said. "I know that he has all the tools as a head coach to be successful in this league. He just needed more time before taking the job. In the end, I'm a fan of this team first, and now, I have to go out and find a coach who can get us back to the playoffs and hopefully championships."

The Patriots have not made a decision as to who'll be their new coach, but many people believe they'll go with Mike Vrabel

According to NFL Network, the Patriots will interview Vrabel this Thursday. He played for the franchise from 2001-2008, winning three Super Bowl titles.

It'll be fascinating to see who gets the job in New England.
