The New England Patriots are bringing back a veteran quarterback for the next two seasons.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Patriots agreed to terms on a two-year, $7.4 million deal with quarterback Tommy DeVito on Friday. The deal includes $2 million in guaranteed money.

DeVito spent the 2025 season as the Patriots' third-string quarterback behind Drake Maye and Joshua Dobbs. He was claimed off waivers by the Patriots back in August.

Right now, DeVito figures to remain QB3 on the depth chart for the 2026 season, since Dobbs still has a year left on his contract.

DeVito spent the first two seasons of his career with the New York Giants (2023 and 2024), compiling 1,358 yards through the air, eight touchdowns, and three interceptions during those seasons. All eight of his touchdown passes came during the 2023 season.

He played his college football at Syracuse (2018-21) and Illinois (2022).

The Patriots are coming off a 2025 season that saw them win the AFC and play in Super Bowl LX against the Seattle Seahawks. While they lost that game 29-13, they still showed that they are back as an AFC contender.

Drake Maye had an incredible season, finishing with 4,394 yards through the air, 31 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. He missed out on being named the NFL's MVP by one vote.

The Patriots will try to get back to the Super Bowl next season and win it, which would be their seventh. They're currently tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most Super Bowls in NFL history.
