The Patriots focused on the offense in the 2025 NFL Draft in an attempt to build around their young franchise quarterback. New England used their first four picks to add two offensive linemen, a receiver, and a running back to add to Drake Maye's weaponry.
Over the weekend, Pro Football Network's Brentley Weissman published a 2026 mock draft that had the Patriots taking Oregon's pass rusher Matayo Uiagalelei with the 14th overall pick.
Uiagelelei is a rising star at Oregon after a stellar sophomore season in 2024. The pass rusher totaled 38 tackles, 14 TFLs and 10.5 sacks last year, and even added a couple passes defended, an interception and two forced fumbles.

Uiagalelei's production improved significantly from his strong first year in 2023, when he collected 18 tackles, three TFLs, and a couple of sacks.
The Ducks' pass rusher could rise even higher up draft boards for the 2026 NFL Draft if he improves on his production from 2024.
Weissman noted the Patriots will likely draft heavier on the defensive side in 2026 after focusing on building around Maye this past year.
The Patriots struggled to rush the passer in 2024, and it's been a point of emphasis for the team heading into 2025. If New England does not significantly improve in that area, Uiagalelei could be the perfect star to add to the edge rushing group in 2026.
Under the new regime, New England brought in Harold Landry III and Milton Williams to generate some pass rush and will lean on the development of guys like Keion White and K'Lavon Chaisson in 2025.
If the Patriots see the improvement they're looking for in the upcoming season, Uiagalelei could add to the star power of a transformational rebuild in New England.
