The New England Patriots made an expected roster move on Friday afternoon.
The team announced that they have cut cornerback J.C. Jackson, saving over $13 million in cap space.
This now gives the Patriots the most cap space in the NFL, sitting with $101 million to spend per OverTheCap.com.

This comes just a few days after director of scouting Eliot Wolf and head coach Jerod Mayo claimed that they had yet to make a decision yet.
"Those discussions are still going. I love J.C.," Mayo said (via The Boston Herald's Doug Kyed). "Coached him, saw him develop into a man. We'll see how that goes going forward, but heck of a football player. Two years removed from injury."
But now they have.
It was a season of ups and downs for Jackson, with the cornerback having started the season with the Los Angles Chargers, but was traded to the Patriots in the beginning of October. With the injuries, he earned a spot in the lineup quickly, but it started to go downhill quickly.
Jackson was benched for part of the game during New England's loss to Washington and then was forced to stay home while the team traveled to Germany the following week.
It was later confirmed that it was disciplinary, with Jackson explaining that it was because he missed “bed checks” at the Patriots team hotel prior to their game against the Commanders.
However, he put all that behind him and returned to the field. But then he was placed on the reserve/non-football illness list a little while later.
Jackson becomes a free agent once again and the Patriots have even more money to spend.
