The New England Patriots’ preparations for their Super Bowl LX matchup against Sam Darnold and the Seattle Seahawks are underway. The Patriots now have less than two weeks before they head to Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. On Feb. 9, New England will get the chance to lift the Vince Lombardi trophy for the first time since Tom Brady and Co. did it in 2019.

On Wednesday, the Patriots submitted their first injury report for the Super Bowl. Drake Maye popped up on the report with a right shoulder injury and was listed as a limited participant. The star quarterback, however, was not the only key player on the injury report.

The Patriots did not actually practice on Wednesday. However, the NFL required them to submit an injury report ahead of the Super Bowl. This means that the status of their players on the injury reports are estimations.

Robert Spillane, Harold Landry and Mack Hollins are three other names that pop out of Wednesday’s injury report apart from Maye. All three starters have been included in the report with respective injuries.

Spillane was in action in Sunday’s 10-7 win over the Denver Broncos. The 30-year-old linebacker, however, exited the game in the first quarter due to an ankle injury. As it turns out, the injury is significant enough to hold Spillane out if the Patriots practiced on Wednesday.

Landry, on the other hand, did not suit up against the Broncos because of a knee injury. The Pro Bowl LB played through the issue in the wild card and divisional rounds, but was forced to sit out the conference championship.

Both Spillane and Landry were listed as non-participants in Wednesday’s estimated practice. Their status in the next practice sessions will be pivotal for their availability for the Super Bowl. Spillane and Landry are both captains, and both are pivotal to New England’s defensive line.

Hollins was also included in the injury report. The Super Bowl-winning wide receiver returned to action against the Broncos for the first time since Week 16 due to abdomen injury. He registered two catches for 51 yards in the win, but has now found himself back on the injury report. He was estimated as a limited participant for Wednesday’s practice.

The Patriots are dealing with injuries to multiple key players. They will need to act with the right amount of prudence and urgency ahead of the biggest game of the season.
