Patriots To Waive OL Caedan Wallace

Wallace was selected by New England during the third round of the 2024 draft. Players in such a situation are not usually cut in short order, although a number of changes have been made in the Patriots’ case with respect to replacing personnel who pre-dated Mike Vrabel‘s 2025 arrival as head coach. Wallace has made just 10 regular-season appearances to date.

That total includes a pair of starts from his rookie campaign, during which Wallace saw time at both tackle spots. The 26-year-old was then limited to just eight snaps played (at left guard) in 2025, Vrabel’s first year at the helm. Wallace was in position to compete for a backup gig through spring practices and into the early portion of training camp, but the Patriots have now decided to move on.

Wallace will hit the waive wire with New England generating $1.04MM in cap savings against $608K in dead money charges. A waiver claim would be surprising since it would require a team to take on the remaining two years of his rookie contract. Provided he hits the open market this week, though, Wallace could manage to find a one-year opportunity from a team seeking inexpensive depth up front.

In other Patriots news, the team is bringing back long snapper Niko Lalos, per ESPN’s Mike Reiss. Lalos saw time this spring with New England and will fill in for the short term. As Reiss notes, incumbent long snapper Julian Ashby is dealing with a short-term ankle injury.
