Left tackle Will Campbell exited the New England Patriots’ 45-17 Week 5 win over the Las Vegas Raiders after he sustained an injury to his right knee. After further testing and evaluation, the organization can breathe a sigh of relief.

Reports indicate that the 22-year-old avoided a major injury, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero. While it is believed Campbell may have to miss some time, the Patriots did not lose him for the rest of the 2026-27 campaign.

“Patriots LT Will Campbell avoided a major knee injury Sunday, tests confirmed,” Pelissero reported. “He’s considered week-to-week.”

The second-year pro left early in the second quarter. Running back Rhamondre Stevenson was tackled behind the line of scrimmage by Raiders safety Jeremy Chinn. The two rolled into the back of Campbell’s legs, resulting in the injury. He was sent to the locker room almost immediately, and he did come back out to the sideline to work out his knee. However, Campbell never returned to the game.

2026 first-round pick Caleb Lomu subbed in for Will Campbell for the remainder of the contest. Lomu is likely to fill in as the starting left tackle until further notice. Largely due to the fact that fellow rookie teammate Dametrious Crownover was inactive for Week 5, and his status for Week 6 is unclear.

The Patriots will have to utilize a makeshift offensive line for now. We’ll see how the protection up front holds up on Sunday, October 18, when the team takes on the New York Jets for the second straight game in New England.
