Nicholas Singleton, RB

Height: 6'1
Weight: 226 pounds
Age: 20
College: Penn State

Strengths

  • Play Strength: Singleton is a big-bodied running back who is not afraid of contact. Singleton can attack you in the hole and run through arm tackles. Singleton also squats 655 lbs. according to Bruce Feldman's Freaks List.
  • Pass Blocking: This is the prototypical pass blocker. Singleton has the want and desire to pass block and pairs it with good strength and technique
  • Vision: Singleton sees things very well in front of him and understands when to cut back and attack different gaps in zone concepts.
  • Athleticism: Singleton is an explosive athlete who has hit 23.6 mph on the GPS and a 40-yard dash at 4.35 seconds. He is explosive in the open field and thrives in straight-line speed situations.

Weaknesses

  • Agility in space: Singleton is a great athlete with speed and power, but he isn't always the most fleet of foot. He gets over top of his feet too often and sometimes won't get to top speed or avoid tackles in space.
  • Decision making: Singleton is really patient in waiting for his blocks to develop and deciding when to cutback, but sometimes will be too patient and miss opportunities to attack the edge.
  • Pad level: Singelton is a tall running back and runs too upright at times. It often hiders his ability to break tackles in open space.

Player Evaluation

Singleton is a really talented player who can thrive in any scheme. Whether it be in zone concepts or running gap/power, Singleton is a versatile running back who can do whatever you need him to do.

The interesting element when it comes to Singleton is the lack of touches. Heading into the College Football Playoff, Singleton has 572 total touches across three seasons with the same amount of toches in his true freshman season as he had in 2024. He will be going into the NFL with less tread on the tires than others in his position.

Player Comparison

Jonathan Taylor
Finding a comp for Singleton isn't necessarily the easiest considering his combination of size, strength and speed. One player that does have similar traits in the same bucket is Taylor, who was a high school track star and an explosive runner at the college level. Taylor was a much bigger workhorse at Wisconsin with over 900 carries, but they do some of the same things on Saturday's.
