Alabama football’s freshman running back and former five-star Ezavier Crowell continues to garner high praise ahead of his highly anticipated freshman season.

Greg McElroy, who recently spoke with Alabama football players and coaches, said he is hearing there are people in Tuscaloosa who believe the freshman is the most talented back the Tide has had on its roster since Jahmyr Gibbs.

“They have one of the top true freshman running backs in the country in Crowell,” McElroy said on “Everything College Football.” “So, people in Tuscaloosa are already saying that Crowell is one of the most talented and explosive backs that they’ve had in crimson and white since Jahmyr Gibbs.”

Alabama football’s offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb previously added to the attention Crowell has garnered when he said the running back and Cederian Morgan would not have to wait long to get on the field.

“They’re already here on campus, back in Tuscaloosa,” Grubb said. “There’s a lot of physical characteristics that both of them have. They’re outstanding players, but the maturity and the mindset that those two guys have already at this point in their career has been really impressive. I’m excited to see what they can do this year. They’re not gonna have to wait long to get on the field.”

Crowell is aware of the opportunity ahead of him, but he also knows it will take him learning and adjusting to college football quickly before he is able to take the jump needed to play immediately.

“It means a lot to me, like, I love them guys like they’re my brothers,” Crowell told Touchdown Alabama when asked about the opportunity to play early in Tuscaloosa. “It would take me to work hard, learn the playbook, and pass block. Then if I can get those things down pat, I can play. If I don’t play early, it don’t matter. I’m just here to keep developing. Hopefully my sophomore year, junior year, and senior year I can take over.”

A lot of eyes will be on the Alabama native next month when spring football starts.
