The Green Bay Packers’ 34-26 loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 15 was made significantly worse by a devastating injury to star EDGE Micah Parsons. Parsons suffered a non‑contact knee injury in the third quarter while pursuing Broncos quarterback Bo Nix, immediately clutching his left leg before eventually walking off the field with help from the team’s medical staff.
Head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed concern of a long-term injury after the game, and an MRI later revealed Parsons suffered a torn ACL, ruling him out for the remainder of the 2025 season.
The injury is a disappointing end to Parsons’ first season with the Packers, a campaign in which he had quickly become the focal point of Green Bay’s defense after being acquired in a major offseason trade with the Dallas Cowboys.
The Packers signed Parsons to a four‑year, $186 million contract that included $136 million guaranteed, making him the highest‑paid non‑quarterback in NFL history.
Green Bay will look to finish out the season without its best defensive playmaker, while hoping that Parsons returns to football at some point in 2026 after rehabbing from surgery.
Ahead of the Packers' Week 16 matchup against the Chicago Bears, LaFleur provided a personal update on Parsons’ life beyond the field, noting the 26‑year‑old is heading home to Dallas to be with his family.
“He’s about to have another child here pretty quick,” LaFleur said in Tuesday’s press conference, confirming that Parsons and his partner are expecting another baby.
LaFleur also declined to get into specifics about whether Parsons’ injury was a clean ACL tear and confirmed that Parsons has not yet undergone surgery, with no timeline provided for when it might occur, per The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman.
LaFleur said Micah Parsons is about to welcome another child, so he’s down in Texas. Expects him to be around the team while recovering. Declined to get into specifics about whether it was a clean ACL tear or not.

Parsons, a father to 7‑year‑old Malcolm and 2‑year‑old Milana, will add a third child to the family while rehabbing his knee.
On the field this season, Parsons was exceptional before his injury, recording 12.5 sacks (tied for third-most in the NFL), 41 combined tackles and 26 quarterback hits in 14 games, anchoring the Packers’ pass rush and ranking among the NFL’s most disruptive defenders.
Green Bay (9-4-1) now turns its attention to an important game against its oldest rival, the Bears (10-4), at Soldier Field. The Packers won the first meeting this season 28-21, keyed by a late interception, and a victory in Week 16 would send Green Bay back to the top of the NFC North. Kickoff is 8:20 p.m. ET Saturday on Fox.
