After going 12-5 last season and reaching the NFC Championship game, the Washington Commanders have shown they want to remain a contender next year with an aggressive offseason.
With rookie Jayden Daniels leading the charge, their offense scored the fourth most points and had the fourth least amount of punts, making them nearly unstoppable on that side of the ball.
By bringing in the likes of Laremy Tunsil and Deebo Samuel, that trend is likely to continue.
The Commanders acquired the five time pro bowl left tackle from the Houston Texans in exchange for multiple draft picks, with their 2025 third and seventh round selections, plus a 2026 second and fourth rounder going to the Texans. Washington also received a 2025 fourth round pick.
A season ago, the Commanders gave up the eighth most sacks with 50. Tunsil brings immediate stability to the left side of the offensive line and that number is likely to drop in 2025 with his presence alone.
The easy part was getting Samuel for just a 2025 fifth rounder. Adding a wide receiver with Samuels’ versatile skill set bodes well for an already explosive offense and he compliments Terry McLaurin very well.
ESPN’s Peter Schrager thinks highly of Washington's chances heading into next season and even believes they could rival the defending champs.

The Eagles destroyed the Commanders in the NFC title game 55-23, but the two sides split the regular season series in 2024 and with some new faces on the roster, it’s not out of the picture.
With their first round selection in this year's NFL Draft, Washington selected offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr. as they continue to emphasize protecting Daniels.
In round two, they took cornerback Trey Amos, who fills the need of an outside corner opposite of Marshon Lattimore.
It’s hard to win in the NFL since it’s constantly changing. Washington is in a unique position, where they have an elite quarterback on a rookie contract with a team that already almost made the Super Bowl, so it makes sense to go all in right now.
