Peyton and Eli Manning’s exclusive spot in pro sports history may not last beyond 2025

For the last 21 years, Peyton and Eli Manning have been the only members of an exclusive club in pro sports.

In 1998, Peyton, a former Tennessee Vols quarterback, was selected by the Indianapolis Colts with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft.

Six years later, the New York Giants selected Eli, a former Ole Miss Rebels quarterback, with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft.

Peyton and Eli are the only brothers in American pro sports to be No. 1 overall picks.

But that could change by the end of the weekend.

High school shortstop Ethan Holiday has been projected by numerous media outlets as the potential No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft (which gets underway on Sunday).

Ethan's brother, Jackson, was selected by the Baltimore Orioles with the No. 1 overall selection in the 2022 MLB Draft. Ethan and Jackson would join Peyton and Eli as the only brothers to be selected with the No. 1 overall pick.

It's not a guarantee, though, that Ethan will be selected with the No. 1 overall pick. The Washington Nationals are considering multiple players at No. 1 overall, including LSU LHP Kade Anderson. So there's a chance that Peyton and Eli could retain their exclusive spot in pro sports history.
