Free agency is approaching for the Arizona Cardinals, and truthfully - there's not a ton of tough decisions for the organization to make.
The Cardinals have over 20 players currently set to hit the market after already re-signing Jesse Luketa and Carter O'Donnell. When it comes to prominent names, Marquise Brown is the only notable player that jumps off the page.
Along with Brown, Antonio Hamilton and Josh Woods were the only pending free agents that played over 50% of snaps last season in Arizona.
Case in point: the Cardinals aren't exactly facing a slew of difficult "stay or go" conversations.
However, there's always one coveted player that each organization deems invaluable. According to Pro Football Focus, Arizona can't afford to lose Brown:
"Brown's time with the Cardinals has been a bit of a journey, and he lands on this list in part because Arizona also doesn’t have much outgoing talent. Retaining Brown to be the No. 2 receiver with the No. 4 overall pick used to select either Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr. or LSU’s Malik Nabers makes a lot of sense," wrote Brad Spielberger.
"The connection to quarterback Kyler Murray is a factor here, as well. We’re not giving up on Brown righting the ship and staying healthy and productive over the next few years.
"When healthy, Brown still has explosive ability and a bigger catch radius at the intermediate level than you’d expect, given his size, and the narrative on him has gone too far in a negative direction."
One could argue Greg Dortch's spot on this list, though he's an exclusive rights free agent and is almost surely going to be retained by Arizona.
As far as Brown's standing in the desert - he's surely talented, though the Cardinals shouldn't be afraid to lose him to the open market, especially if he's searching for a payday.
