The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are getting mixed reviews from experts about their 2025 offseason and how they will measure up when the season starts. But one undisputed fact is general manager Jason Licht’s strong offseason performance.

Licht secured a key piece with Pro Bowl receiver Chris Godwin’s re-signing, after Godwin was reportedly close to walking away. And then bolstered the defense with edge rusher Haason Reddick to address a major need.

Those moves alone would’ve earned the Buccaneers a solid offseason grade, but they took it to the next level with their draft haul, highlighted by Emeka Egbuka and a group of promising defensive prospects who fill key needs for Todd Bowles’ defense.

Pro Football Focus’ Trevor Sikkema gives the Buccaneers an A- grade for their offseason, reflecting his high praise for their solid moves.

“The Buccaneers lost offensive coordinator Liam Coen to the Jaguars, but that was their only significant departure. They brought back both Lavonte David and Chris Godwin and even made a splash in free agency with Haason Reddick.

Sikkema continued,

“Tampa Bay then drafted five players who could be starters or key rotational players in Emeka Egbuka, Benjamin Morrison, Jacob Parrish, David Walker and Elijah Roberts.”

The Buccaneers offense boasts an incredible arsenal, with Baker Mayfield surrounded by a star-studded group that includes Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Jalen McMillan, Emeka Egbuka, and Cade Otton, complemented by Bucky Irving in the running game.

If Haason Reddick’s addition pays off and the draft picks make an immediate impact, the Buccaneers’ defense could take a significant leap, positioning them as serious contenders in the NFC.
