The Seattle Seahawks will go into the 2025 NFL draft with major question marks on the offensive side of the ball, but that doesn't mean they're going to completely ignore the defense. Head coach Mike Macdonald lived up to his defensive reputation last season and won't be looking to slow down in Year 2.

After re-signing linebacker Ernest Jones and defensive tackle Jarran Reed, the Seahawks signed edge rusher DeMarcus Lawrence to a three-year deal in free agency. Seattle's defense has the potential to be a top-10 unit this season, however, it's never a bad idea to add to a strength.

While we expect the team to target an offensive lineman or wide receiver in the first round, the Seahawks have 10 total draft picks after the Geno Smith and DK Metcalf trades. That means they will have plenty of chances to upgrade the defense after Day 1.

Pro Football Focus released a new feature identifying the best fits for each team on Day 2 of the draft. PFF named Ole Miss edge rusher Princely Umanmielen as Seattle's best Day 2 fit in 2025.

"Although the Seahawks signed Demarcus Lawrence during free agency, Mike Macdonald’s defensive mind will likely want to add to his team's stable of pass rushers," wrote PFF's Mason Cameron. "Umanmielen’s high-percentile pass-rush win rate (22.8%) in 2024 is evidence of his capability to win as a 3-4 outside linebacker, making him an excellent fit in Seattle."

The Seahawks would be an interesting fit for Umanmielen as he could be eased into the lineup behind the team's veteran pass rushers. While the Ole Miss standout is somewhat unrefined technically, his raw talent gives him a high ceiling at the next level.

Last season, Umanmielen racked up 11 sacks, 16 QB hits and 28 hurries for the Rebels. With a pass-rushing grade of 91.5 and overall grade of 91.1, there's a lot to like. The Seahawks have four total picks on Day 2 of the draft (Rounds 2-3).
