PFF names two Ravens 'primed for bigger roles' in 2023

With another NFL season right around the corner, Pro Football Focus believes there's a couple of Ravens who are ready to breakout onto the scene.

PFF named safety Kyle Hamilton and edge-rusher David Ojabo as defensive players "primed for bigger roles in 2023."

"Hamilton was one of the best safety prospects to enter the draft in years and was taken No. 14 overall by the Ravens in 2022," PFF's Sam Monson writes. "His role as a rookie varied considerably...he should expect to be on the field for at least 250 more snaps in Year 2 than he was his first season."

Hamilton had some early struggles but ended up starting the final five games of the season after improving every week. He finished his rookie campaign with 62 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble and five passes defensed.

The 22-year-old's time to be the starter is here after the team traded veteran safety Chuck Clark earlier this offseason and he is ready for his opportunity.

"I feel like I can slide into that role for sure and perform at a high level," Hamilton said on "The Ravens Lounge" podcast.

"Ojabo's return to the field after tearing his Achilles tendon during his pro-day was remarkable. An injury that typically sidelines players for a full year only kept Ojabo off the field until Week 15," Monson wrote. "He now enters Year 2 with a full offseason of recovery to attack his professional career for real. He should get plenty of playing time this season alongside Odafe Oweh and Tyus Bowser."

The 23-year-old may have been a first rounder if not for his injury, and the Ravens clearly have reason to be excited about him after he logged a strip sack in his NFL debut.

Baltimore has decided to go with more youth than experience on defense this season. So, Hamilton and Ojabo will play large roles in determining the team's success in 2023.
