Philadelphia Eagles 2026 Offseason Outlook

For a team that has been to the Super Bowl twice in the last four years, winning one of those games, it seems at times as if the Philadelphia Eagles don’t get enough credit. In five seasons as head coach, Nick Sirianni has a regular-season record of 59-26. The Eagles have won back-to-back division titles —the first time an NFC East team has done that in 20 years — and yet there are still some out there who think Sirianni is a coach on the hot seat.

But it’s only been a year since the Eagles put on a masterful performance in Super Bowl LIX, ending the Kansas City Chiefs dynasty with a defensive beatdown on Patrick Mahomes and Co. Just because the Eagles couldn’t get out of the wild-card round in 2025 doesn’t mean this isn’t still a serious Super Bowl contender in the NFC. All the key pieces are still in place. They just have to fix the offense.

The fall guy for last season was offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, who could not keep his offense in any kind of rhythm. He’s been replaced by former Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach Sean Mannion, who inherits what is clearly one of the most pressure-packed jobs in the NFL.

2025 recap

Even during an 8-2 start to the 2025 season, the Eagles never looked like the dominant force that cruised past the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. Injuries and age took a toll on what had been an outstanding offensive line. Saquon Barkley, after rushing for 2,000 yards in 2024, took a significant step back. Jalen Hurts threw 25 TD passes but he had his least productive rushing season since becoming the full-time starter in 2021. A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith both had 1,000 yards receiving, but they were not consistent threats. Brown, who has frequently caused friction with the team, remains a candidate to tbe traded. The Eagles ranked 19th in scoring offense.

The defense remained solid under veteran defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, though it was not the force of nature we saw in the Super Bowl. While Philly ranked fifth in scoring defense, it was middle-of-the-pack in yards allowed.

After the 8-2 start, the Eagles lost three straight. Even though they would end up hosting a first-round playoff game, it was clear by the time the postseason rolled around that this was not the same team that won the Super Bowl.

2026 draft needs

It’s probably time for the Eagles to retool their offensive line, at both guard and tackle. The defensive front seven is solid, but adding an impactful edge rusher would help. IF Dallas Goedert, who turned 31 in January, leaves via free agency, then tight end is a position of need.
