Philadelphia Eagles Add Another Quarterback to the Crowded Depth Chart for 2024
Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles add Will Grier to their roster before the 2024 season.

The Eagles have added another quarterback to their depth chart before training camp. Will Grier is set to sign a one-year deal in Philadelphia.

Will Grier was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in 2019. He has since spent time with the Dallas Cowboys, Cincinnati Bengals, New England Patriots, and LA Chargers.

Philadelphia Eagles QB Room

The Eagles have now added Kenny Pickett and Will Grier within one week of each other. Both Pickett and Grier will sit on the sideline while Jalen Hurts continues to take charge of the starting offense. Tanner McKee was also signed to a four-year deal in Philadelphia this past offseason.

Eagles fans may wonder what the plan is for each of these quarterbacks moving forward. Having four quarterbacks on the roster is not a traditional move for NFL teams, especially at this point of the year.

Grier now reunites with offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. Grier should be a leader to all QBs to help learn Moore’s system.

Will Grier Career

Grier started his career in Florida but transferred to West Virginia after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs. After sitting the 2016 season due to NCAA transfer rules at the time, and became the starter in 2017. Grier finished his senior season in 2018 with 3,864 passing yards, 37 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.

Grier was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the third round (100th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft. He was cut from the Panthers in 2021. On September 1, 2021, the Dallas Cowboys claimed Grier off waivers to replace Ben DiNucci as the third-string quarterback behind Dak Prescott and Cooper Rush.

In 2023, the Bengals signed Grier to the practice squad but signed to the Patriots active roster soon after. He was waived on November 25, 2023, and re-signed to the practice squad three days later. December 2023, Grier was signed by the Los Angeles Chargers off the Patriots practice squad.
