The Philadelphia Eagles' chances of winning their Super Bowl LIX rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2 just got better following the latest NFL update.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that Chiefs' rising star wide receiver Rashee Rice will miss the first six games of the 2025 NFL season following a car crash he was involved in last year.

"#Chiefs WR Rashee Rice is accepting and will serve a six-game suspension to start the 2025 regular season, per sources. The NFL and NFLPA are working to finalize the settlement, which will end Rice’s disciplinary limbo and make him eligible to return Week 7 vs. Las Vegas," Pelissero reports.

This past July, Rice had been sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years of probation for his part in a multi-car crash in Dallas that injured several people.

The 25-year-old pleaded guilty in district court to two third-degree felonies: one for causing a crash with serious injuries and another for racing on a highway. He received deferred adjudication, which means if he finishes his probation without any issues, the charges will be dropped.

Rice went down with a knee injury after last falls and had to have surgery, which ended his 2024 season early. Before that, he was off to a strong start with 24 catches for 288 yards and two touchdowns in just four games. As a rookie in 2023, he broke out as the Chiefs’ top receiver, racking up 79 catches for 938 yards and seven touchdowns. He kept it going in the playoffs too, adding 26 catches for 262 yards and a touchdown to help the Chiefs win the Super Bowl.

While the Eagles' defense will catch a break with having to lock down Rice, they will still need to worry about Xavier Worthy, Hollywood Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Travis Kelce.
