Philadelphia Eagles go to the dogs for schedule release video

The Philadelphia Eagles 2023 schedule is “ruff.” So kudos to their PR department for bringing in man’s best friend to soften the blow with their schedule release video.

The video features dogs of players, coaches and other team personnel who we’re led to believe edited the post. It’s adorable. According to NFL Research, the Eagles face the NFL’s toughest schedule next year, but it seems less daunting when surrounded by puppies. Here’s what stood out about the video:

Philly’s native son

Head coach Nick Sirianni named his dog Kobe. Did this happen after he moved to Philadelphia or is he just a Lakers fan?

Top dog

General manager Howie Roseman was born in Brooklyn, grew up in New Jersey and went to school in Florida. It’s a safe bet Philly Roseman received his moniker long after his owner joined the Eagles. Rumor has it “Philly” is the one who wanted Jalen Reagor.

The big dogs

In the opening sequence, Jason Kelce’s dog Baloo is featured in a text chain with Roseman and Sirianni’s dogs. It’s good to have friends in high places. Twelve years and five All-Pro seasons will do that for a guy (and his dog).

Philly Phillie

Making a brief cameo in the video is Major, a labrador puppy that was recently signed by the Philadelphia Phillies. He’s actually a service dog in training and once he’s ready, he’ll be paired with a veteran. Major pitched in to announce the teams’ Week 13 matchup against San Francisco. Good boy.

Sirianni often talks about the “dog mentality” of his players and it looks like they’ll be in good company for what promises to be a very challenging year.
