Philadelphia Eagles Linked To 3 Intriguing Free Agent Wide Receivers
Matthew Hinton-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles had a shocking roster development happen recently. After they thought they had the wide receiver room relatively set, DeVante Parker announced his sudden retirement from the NFL. Now, they have a potential void that could be an issue at the wide receiver position.

Howie Roseman and company will likely take a long look at some options in free agency and on the trade market to replace Parker. Thankfully, there are quite a few solid options available.

Parker was slated in as the No. 3 wide receiver on the Eagles’ depth chart. Philadelphia has A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith as their top two weapons for Jalen Hurts. Following Parker’s retirement, that has left Parris Campbell as the projected third wide receiver.

While Campbell isn’t a bad player, the Eagles should take a look at free agency to bring in another target.

Philadelphia Eagles Linked To 3 Intriguing Free Agent Wide Receivers

NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Dave Zangaro has linked three names of interest for the Philadelphia Eagles. He thinks they should look into Mecole Hardman, Michael Thomas, or Hunter Renfrow.

“It’s May and there aren’t many great options still available in free agency. But the Eagles did add (Julio Jones) last season in mid-October, so there’s no deadline for adding players. A few notable names are still out there: Hunter Renfrow, Michael Thomas, and Mecole Hardman.”

Zangaro did go on to state that Roseman and the front office could explore other avenues for a wide receiver as well.

“Perhaps, Howie Roseman can figure out a way to work a trade. He has brought in players during training camp before so that’s another option. But maybe the Eagles will want to see what they have on the roster first before going that route.”

Looking at the three names in free agency that he mentioned, all three would make sense for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Hardman is coming off of a season full of frustration, but it ended with him being a Super Bowl hero and catching the game-winning touchdown against the San Francisco 49ers. Michael Thomas is a former superstar wide receiver who has seen injuries plague his career of late. Renfrow was a Pro Bowl wideout just a couple of short years ago, but his role disappeared with the Las Vegas Raiders after that campaign.

All three players have shown that they are capable of being impact players in the NFL. Thomas is arguably the best wideout of the group, although there is no guarantee that he can stay healthy and on the field.

All of that being said, the Philadelphia Eagles have some options in free agency if they want to go that route. These three names would be worth looking into.
