Philadelphia Eagles Place Former National Champion On Injured Reserve
Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia Eagles 2nd year inside linebacker, Nakobe Dean, seems to be facing an extended layoff due to a foot injury, per the Philadelphia Eagles twitter account.

How This Impacts The Philadelphia Eagles’ Defense

The Philadelphia Eagles, on paper, have one of the superior defences in the NFL. However, in practice, they seem to be more middle-of-the-pack: they rank 14th in total yards and 27th in defensive DVOA. With strength on the defensive line – particularly rookie 1st round sensation , Jalen Carter but injuries obliterating their now-thin secondary, off-the-ball linebacker has an opportunity to make an impact on the team.

One of the key players hoping to do that at season’s start was 2nd year, 1st round projected Nakobe Dean, having fallen into the Eagles’ arms in the 3rd round in 2022.

However, over the course of the season, strong play from Zach Cunnigham, and even more so from former Raider and Bear, Nicholas Morrow, has forced Dean into a subsidiary role. Yet, many argue, regardless that his presence will be missed for a team with exceptionally high (a.k.a Super Bowl) ambitions.

The Philadelphia Eagles will most likely still be fine without their young, up-and-coming linebacker, although it certainly represents a small setback for the team coming off a heartbreaking loss in Super Bowl LVII.
