The Philadelphia Eagles have one of the most high-powered offenses in the league. The wide receiver tandem of AJ Brown and Devonta Smith, paired with Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts make this offense hard to stop. After beating the Packers in Brazil in week 1, the Eagles have a Monday night tilt with the Atlanta Falcons. The offense will be a little less potent as the team has already ruled out Brown due to a hamstring injury.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Philadelphia Eagles are already ruling out AJ Brown for tomorrow night’s game. Head coach Nick Sirianni said on Saturday that the wide receiver had some tightness on Friday and was limited in practice. It was out of an abundance of caution, and there was still a chance he would play, given the extra day of rest. However, the team is not taking any chances. He will miss the Monday night game against the Falcons.
Brown is coming off a dominant performance in week 1. He caught five passes for 119 yards and a touchdown last Friday. The touchdown came early in the second half as he burned cornerback Jaire Alexander. It increased the lead for the Philadelphia Eagles and made it difficult for the Packers to mount a comeback. He will be missed in the offense.
The good news for the Philadelphia Eagles is they have Devonta Smith on the roster. On many teams, he would be the WR1 and will likely be more targeted in the passing game on Monday. Tight end Dallas Goedert could see some more looks as well. More than likely, Saquon Barkley will be leaned on even more. He scored three touchdowns last Friday, which shows he is still a dominant running back.
The hope is that this injury will be short-term. Hamstring injuries can linger if they are not given proper rest. With the Philadelphia Eagles sitting at 1-0, the team is being cautious. Hopefully, Brown will be back soon.
