Philadelphia Eagles Set To 'Host' The NFL’s First Ever Game In Brazil, Scheduled Week 1 On Friday Night For The First Time In 50 Years
Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia Eagles Flew Too Close To The Sun In 2023

The Philadelphia Eagles, off the back off of one of the most disappointing finishes to a season in franchise history, will surely be thinking about how to get their prime roster back to the caliber that came within a few plays of beating Patrick Mahomes in Super Bowl LVII, instead of the one that blew a 11-1 start to the season to lose both the top seed in the NFC and the NFC East division title to arch rivals, the Dallas Cowboys.

Not to mention getting whomped by the Baker Mayfield-lead Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card round of this year’s playoffs.

One thing that probably is not particularly pertinent on their mind at the moment, amidst staffing changes and potential star player trade rumors, is the time, date and location of their opening game of the season. Well, regardless, there has been some big news concerning exactly this, per Tom Pelissero.

The Philadelphia Eagles Set To Host The NFL’s First Ever Game In Brazil

The Philadelphia Eagles will play host on Friday September 6th for the NFL’s debut game in the continent of South America – the closest the NFL has come before is Mexico, in Central America.

The game will be played in Corinthians Arena, the home to one of Brazil’s premier soccer teams, and is located in the biggest city in the southern hemisphere, Sao Paulo.

Philadelphia Eagles’ Opening Game Making History In Other Ways

In addition to being the NFL’s first Brazilian game, this is also the first time the NFL has scheduled a Friday night game on opening weekend in over half a century- as part of the 2024 International Games

The last team to be given the privilege of hosting this such event was the St Louis Rams, all the way back at the start of the 1970 season.

This should be a great way to bring the NFL to yet another audience, as Roger Goodell and co. continue their efforts to grow the sport worldwide in an attempt at full NFL world domination.
