Philip Rivers has finally made his coaching decision.
Last week, the former Indianapolis Colts quarterback made the decision to interview with the Buffalo Bills for their head coaching position. The 44-year-old quarterback announced his retirement from the NFL earlier this month after coming off the sideline from coaching high school football. His intention was to help the team after Daniel Jones went down with a season-ending injury.
After he went 0-3, he was inactive for the final game of the season and then made it clear that his career was over. “I am (done),” Rivers said on “Up & Adams.”
“I got a son who will be a senior, and I got that St. Michael football team ready to go. We got beat in the semifinals two years in a row,” Rivers said. “So, it’ll be his senior year. My second son will be a ninth grader. They’ll be on the same team together.
If Philip Rivers’ NFL journey continues, it’s not going to be with the Buffalo Bills. Rivers, who spent the past couple of seasons coaching high school football, was rumored to be a real candidate for the position.
However, the former quarterback reportedly took his name out of consideration, The Athletic reported Monday.

The Bills announced Friday that they had interviewed Rivers for their head coaching vacancy. During his retirement, Rivers served as the head football coach at St. Michael Catholic High School in Fairhope, Alabama.
In the meantime, the Bills’ interview process continued through Sunday as they look for their next leader.
McDermott, the second-longest tenured coach in Bills history behind Hall of Famer Marv Levy, was fired after another playoff failure.
