The Nay-Sayers are coming on strong. From NFL experts to former NFL player-turned-podcaster Asante Samuel Sr., the supporters of Dolphin Land are heading to the exits.
As much as I feel for what Coach Mike McDaniel must be experiencing, as well as our clueless General Manager Chris Grier, it is essential to note that Grier and McDaniel dug their respective graves.
McDaniel is being criticized for allegedly losing control of his locker room, which is likely to have begun after the embarrassing 28-27 collapse against the Tennessee Titans on Monday Night Football on December 11, 2023.
Coach McDaniel would consistently preach that adversity builds strength and results in winners.
His words fell on deaf ears, and the losses continued to mount.
The season-ending fall in 2023 led to the lackluster start of the 2024 season.
Tua Tagovailoa’s injuries, of course, had a negative impact, but it wouldn’t have mattered.
The Dolphins team began the 2024 season with the expectation of re-living the beginning of the 2023 season, yet reality came crashing down prematurely.
Fast forward to the impending 2025 training camp, with the ghosts of Christmas past dogging this team, and, predictably, most experts are forecasting another lackluster year for the Miami Dolphins.
So, what do we do as loyal fans who have patiently waited for some signs of post-season success since the year 2000?
Do we give up on the season and adopt another NFL franchise to root for in 2025?
Highly unlikely.
For most Dolphins fans, we will look forward to the 2025 season, the highlights as well as the lowlight plays, the suspenseful game-changing moments during a game, and as ABC’s Wide World of Sports said it best, “The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.”
So, pile it on, NFL experts, but we still have a game to play.
