Pittsburgh Steelers: Justin Fields Wanted to Go to the Steelers, Rejected 4 Different Teams

The Spun’s Andrew Holleran reported that the former lottery pick could have gone to any other team, but he decided that he didn’t want to go anywhere other than Pittsburgh.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Steelers had interest from four other teams, though Fields and his representatives requested he wasn’t sent there.

“Important note on the Justin Fields trade: At least four additional teams inquired about trading for Fields, but Fields’ representation asked for him not to be traded there. He wanted the #Steelers, and the #Bears did right by him,” Rapoport reported.

It’s a great sign for the Pittsburgh Steelers that a young QB chose them as his destination to rebuild their career. It was obvious last season that the team already had a strong roster, but they lacked a proper QB that could make the right pass.

Now that Fields and Russell Wilson are now Steelers, it’s not hard to imagine the team making a deep playoff run in 2024.

Does Justin Fields have what it takes to win the starting QB spot?

The biggest question surrounding Fields at the moment is whether he has the quality to overtake an established QB in Wilson.

He was a mixed bag for Bears fans last season. In the 13 games he played, he passed for 2562 yards, 16, touchdowns, nine interceptions, and a 61.4% pass completion rate. Wilson has slightly better numbers at 3070 passing yards, 26 TDs, and eight picks.

However, it’s not hard to imagine Mike Tomlin giving the reins of the offense to Fields if Mr. Unlimited doesn’t live up to expectations.
