Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers have just one goal heading into the 2025 NFL season. After the offseason moves that the front office put together, it’s Super Bowl or bust for the franchise.

Not only did the Steelers sign Rodgers to a one-year deal, which the future Hall of Fame quarterback has said will be his final NFL season, they also went out and acquired superstar wide receiver DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks and traded for Miami Dolphins star Jalen Ramsey.

Jonnu Smith was also acquired from the Dolphins in the Ramsey trade.

On the outside looking in, Pittsburgh looks the part of a Super Bowl contender. Could the front office be open to making another trade to improve the offense even more around Rodgers?

That is exactly what one NFL writer has suggested.

Pittsburgh Steelers Linked to Intriguing Trade for 1 of Aaron Rodgers’ Favorites

Cory Woodroof of For The Win has suggested an interesting trade for the Steelers. He believes that making a trade with the New York Jets for Allen Lazard could be an option.

“Look, this is more of a ‘we’re just ready to get this over with’ type of thing,” Woodroof wrote. “The Steelers need another wide receiver, and Lazard is one of Aaron Rodgers’ guys. We expect Pittsburgh and the New York Jets will work something out before the season that sends Lazard to the Steel City. It just feels automatic at this point.”

In addition to suggesting Lazard as a possible trade target for Pittsburgh, Woodroof also came up with a potential trade. He has the veteran wideout heading to the Steelers in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round pick.

Lazard played in 12 games during the 2024 NFL season with the Jets. He caught 37 passes for 530 yards and six touchdowns.

Pittsburgh would not be asking Lazard to be a big-time playmaker. He would slot in as a No. 2 or No. 3 wideout and would provide Rodgers with a comfort target. Lazard’s chemistry with Rodgers goes back to their time with the Green Bay Packers together.

This seems like an obvious trade to pursue. Lazard would not be an expensive target and his fit with Rodgers could come in handy. Don’t be surprised if the Steelers do look into making this suggested moved.
