Pittsburgh Steelers named intriguing landing spot for wide receiver
Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers find themselves facing a glaring gap in their wide receiver lineup, with limited options available in the free agent market to address this deficiency.

However, one potential solution emerges in the form of former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup.

According to Dallas Robinson of Pro Football Network, the Steelers stand out as the ideal landing spot for Gallup in the realm of NFL free agency.

“Michael Gallup hasn’t been the same player since tearing his ACL in 2022 but has a 1,000-yard campaign (2019) on his ledger. The 6’1″, 200-pounder can give the Steelers more size on the perimeter and wouldn’t prevent them from drafting an early-round WR.”

Despite not reaching the 1,000-yard mark since 2019, Gallup’s recent performance remains noteworthy. In the previous season, he tallied 34 receptions for 418 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns.

Comparatively, this output surpasses that of any other receiver currently listed on the Steelers’ roster, with the exception of George Pickens.

Throughout his tenure with the Cowboys spanning 86 NFL games, Gallup has amassed 266 catches, accumulating a total of 3,744 yards. Additionally, he boasts 21 touchdowns, maintaining an impressive average of 14.1 yards per reception.

If the Pittsburgh Steelers do decide to take a swing on Gallup, it would be the definition of a low-risk, possibly high-reward type of signing. The move would make a lot of sense for both parties involved.
