Pittsburgh Steelers Owner Not Happy With Team's 2025 Schedule

The NFL released the schedules for the 2025 season yesterday. We've got a lot of great games to look forward to, but the owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers isn't thrilled about part of it.

Speaking to the team website yesterday, Steelers owner Art Rooney II said that while he doesn't have any "major complaints" about the schedule, he does take issue with some of the late-night games they've been assigned.

Specifically, he wasn't a fan of the Steelers getting primetime games against the Los Chargers on the road and against the Miami Dolphins near the end of the season.

“We’re not crazy about having the night games late in the season,” Rooney said. “It happens, and it’s not a big, big deal, but we would prefer not to have too many night games late in the season. Obviously I also look for the long trips and how they fall, and unfortunately we have a Sunday night game in Los Angeles. Not crazy about the playing those night games on the West Coast.”

The NFL certainly backloaded the Steelers' schedule with primetime games, giving them primetime tilts against the Cincinnati Bengals, Green Bay Packers, Chargers and Dolphins.

Notably, the NFL gave the Steelers the New York Jets in Week 1 too. Combine that with the primetime slot for the Packers game and it's clear that the NFL is expecting the Steelers to sign quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

The Steelers will also plays the first-ever NFL game in Dublin, Ireland when they take on the Minnesota Vikings on September 28 at iconic Croke Park. Former Steelers owner Dan Rooney, Art Rooney's father, served as the U.S. ambassador to Ireland from 2009 to 2012 under former President Barack Obama.

It's hard to tell what the expectations should be for the Steelers in 2025. There's the obvious assumption that they'll have at least nine wins since head coach Mike Tomlin has never had a losing campaign with the team.

On the other hand, even if Aaron Rodgers is the starter, the Steelers have a lot of question marks on the rest of the team that not even a quarterback can solve at the moment.
