Pittsburgh Steelers QB Russell Wilson Receives Very Strange Comparison
Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The 2024 NFL season is coming up quickly and the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to be an interesting team to keep an eye on. After making tons of changes this offseason, including bringing in veteran star quarterback Russell Wilson, they are a completely new-look team. Mike Tomlin and company have to be feeling good about their chances to compete this year.

Granted, there are still some questions that must be answered. However, one of the biggest glaring weaknesses that the Steelers had last season was the lack of production from the quarterback position.

If there is one thing that Wilson has done throughout most of his career, it’s find ways to put his teams in position to win. Even last year with the Denver Broncos, Wilson put together a good season.

Pittsburgh Steelers’ Russell Wilson Receives Very Strange Comparison

While he has yet to play a single game for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Wilson has been turning heads with his work ethic. It’s clear that he wants to win and that he wants to play at a high level in Pittsburgh.

The Athletic’s Mark Kaboly has revealed that Wilson has begun receiving comparisons to former Steelers’ star wide receiver Antonio Brown. He dished more info on why those comparisons are being made.

“One team source said the Steelers haven’t seen somebody work as hard as Wilson at his craft since the early days of Antonio Brown, who was notorious for the effort he put into his game to become the best wide receiver in the league for a span of more than five years.”

Brown is not a player that anyone truly wants to be compared to, unless it’s in this kind of light. During the early stages of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Brown was one of the most feared superstars in the league. Over the last few years of his career, his attitude deteriorated and he ended up ruining all of his legacy that he had built for himself.

As for Wilson, he’s simply looking to prove the Broncos wrong for the way they released him. The Steelers are putting a lot of trust in him to get them back on track. He’s ready to prove all of his critics wrong.

It will be interesting to see how the 2024 campaign goes for the Pittsburgh Steelers. They do appear to be a team that could compete in the AFC, but they’ll need players to step up. Wilson is one of those players that will dictate what kind of success they are able to have.
