Mason Rudolph had a busy schedule last week.

After taking first team reps during the first three sessions of OTAs, Rudolph was at a public appearance with President Donald Trump.

Some Pittsburgh Steelers fans were upset by that, and so the team has responded:

Steelers send email to fans upset with Mason Rudolph's apperance with Donald Trump

We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us. As valued fans, your voice is an essential part of what makes our Steelers community and fan base so strong.

We understand that a recent rally in Pittsburgh has generated a range of reactions from our fan base. Our alumni and current players make their own individual decisions that reflect their views, and they do not necessarily represent the view of the entire Pittsburgh Steelers organization.

Thank you again for sharing your thoughts. We appreciate your passion and your continued support of the team.”

Steelers owner and team president Art Rooney II was a campaign donor to former presidential candidate Kamala Harris, and the Rooney family has long been involved in politics, with Dan Rooney serving as an ambassador to Ireland during President Barack Obama's time in office.

“I happen to think a really good quarterback is a man named Mason Rudolph,” President Trump said during the appearance. “I think he’s going to get a big shot. He’s tall, he’s handsome, got a great arm, and I have a feel he’s gonna be the guy.”

Rudolph will attempt to do just that when OTAs continue in Pittsburgh on Tuesday. The team has six days of practice left. Three days of OTAs this week and mandatory minicamp next week before their summer break, at which point everyone will go away for six weeks before training camp begins during the last week of July.
