Pittsburgh Steelers Sign Former LSU Wide Receiver Standout
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed a former LSU standout wide receiver to their roster ahead of mandatory OTAs this month. The Steelers are in dire need of help at pass catcher before training camp begins this summer.

The Pittsburgh Steelers need a boost at WR

The Steelers have WR1 locked down with George Pickens. They also added Michigan standout Roman Wilson in the draft. However, the Steelers’ prospects are still slim after they traded away Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers.

The Steelers have been rumored to be interested in trading for a wide receiver this offseason. The team needs solid pass catchers to help maximize veteran quarterback Russell Wilson’s performance in the lone year he’s playing in Pittsburgh on the veteran minimum.

The Steelers signed Jaray Jenkins

According to the Steelers’ website, the team brought in competition to the wide receiver roster before training camp after they waived cornerback Luq Barcoo due to injury. They used the open roster spot to sign Jaray Jenkins:

“Jenkins originally signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent following the 2023 NFL Draft. He played in the preseason, pulling in two receptions for 32 yards, but was released prior to the start of the regular season.

Jenkins played at LSU where he played in 43 games, starting 20, in four seasons. He finished with 89 receptions for 1,370 yards and 14 touchdowns.”

The Steelers’ roster before training camp now includes wide receivers Wilson, Pickens, Jenkins, Quez Watkins, Denzel Mims, Scotty Miller, Van Jefferson, Izaiah Gathings, Dez Fitzpatrick, Marquez Callaway, and Calvin Autin III.
