Playoffs? Are You Kidding Me?

On November 25, 2001, the Head Coach of the Indianapolis Colts, Jim Mora, delivered a classic quote when he was asked about the playoffs.

He said the following.

“Playoffs? Don’t talk about playoffs! Are you kidding me? Playoffs?!”

Exactly my sentiment.

Why are we talking about our beloved Miami Dolphins team going to the playoffs in 2025?

Listen, I love the Miami Dolphins.

I grew up in Miami.

I have witnessed the “glory of victory and the agony of defeat” since the team began in 1966.

Don’t get me wrong.

I will be watching the Dolphins’ next game on Sunday at home versus the New Orleans Saints.

Yes, a bad team, meaning the Saints.

The Dolphins are better, but seriously, the playoffs?

And winning out?

As we saw this past week, supposedly bad teams make a strong effort, and I do not see any of the lower-ranked teams giving up just yet.

These players are fighting for their future, and literally their families.

As we are, I get it.

The Miami Dolphins’ chances of making the playoffs in 2025 are minimal at best.

Why?

None of the issues has been addressed sufficiently to compete at the next level.

A head coach who is questionable in his decision-making, to put it somewhat politically correct.

A limited quarterback who we pay as QB1?

Tua Tagovailoa does not possess the skills necessary to compete fully, and, of course, Stephen Ross is a stubborn owner who refuses to make significant changes.

My goal is to enjoy Miami Dolphins football this year thoroughly.

But I remain with realistic expectations.

Let us not get ahead of our skis, and enjoy our team compete.

The Dolphins will compete.

Guaranteed.

Are they a playoff-caliber team?

With sufficient players who are good enough?

Not this year.

Sorry to disappoint.
