Potential destinations should the Bears trade QB Justin Fields

Justin Fields showed flashes of greatness last season, but the current Bears regime didn't draft him, fueling speculation the quarterback could be traded.

Chicago owns the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Alabama's Bryce Young and Ohio State's C.J. Stroud are widely considered the top QBs in the draft.

Per longtime NFL reporter Jason La Canfora, "More than one NFL general manager came away from the Senior Bowl fairly convinced that Justin Fields will be dealt."

If the 23-year-old were made available in a trade, here are potential destinations:

Atlanta Falcons

Per Falcons.com, Atlanta was "in" on Deshaun Watson last year, so it makes sense that the Falcons would be in on a younger, more dynamic QB in Fields. In 2022, rookie Desmond Ridder, a third-round pick, replaced Marcus Mariota as starter for the last four games, going 2-2.

Pairing Fields' dynamic rushing ability with a stout rushing attack could do wonders for a middling Falcons unit. TE Kyle Pitts, WR Drake London and RB Tyler Allgeier would give Fields young weapons to work with.

Washington Commanders

NBC Sports has reported that the team will explore all options at QB this offseason. Sam Howell is their starter, but the rookie only started the final regular-season game in 2022. New offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy needs a QB he can count on to make the offense go.

WRs Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel and RB Brian Robinson would give Fields a solid offensive nucleus to work with. This is a team that reeks of desperation after years wandering in the QB wilderness.

Tennessee Titans

USA Today recently labeled Titans starter Ryan Tannehill as a potential cut candidate. Malik Willis was drafted in the third round last year, but he was benched for veteran Joshua Dobbs at the end of the season.

That said, the Titans appear to be in rebuilding mode with a new general manager, new offensive coordinator and the recent release of several veterans, including longtime offensive tackle Taylor Lewan.

Adding Fields' scrambling ability to the power presence of RB Derrick Henry would be intriguing, but the rest of the offense is middling.

New Orleans Saints

The team recently hosted free agent Derek Carr as it seeks an upgrade at QB over Andy Dalton. Cost is a factor, as the Saints are nearly $48 million over the cap, per Spotrac

This is why it makes more sense for the Saints to trade for Fields, who still is on a rookie deal, instead of signing Carr, who could command an annual salary in the $40 million range.

WR Chris Olave, RB Alvin Kamara and QB/TE Taysom Hill would give Fields solid weapons to work with.
