The NFL made a big decision on Tuesday during the Spring League Meeting, voting 32-0 to allow for NFL players to participate in Flag Football during the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California.
"I think this news represents a great opportunity for the sport, for the NFL," Commissioner Roger Goodell said after the announcement.
With the decision, each NFL team will be permitted to send one player to the Olympics, along with an additional international player if designated. With that in mind, it made us wonder: What player from the Houston Texans' roster could wear the stars and stripes during that summer's olympic games?
1. CB Derek Stingley Jr. - Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Singley is a top candidate to lock down opposing receivers in 2028. At 23 years old, his prime years are still ahead of him and he's already turned into a top corner in the league. According to NFL Next Gen Stats, Stingley allowed just 4.9 yards per target last season, fewest among outside corners in the league.
Stingley was born in Louisiana and will be 28 when the games roll around, so should he continue to wreak havoc on the league, he's an easy choice for Team USA.
2. DE Will Anderson Jr. - Hampton, Georgia
Anderson is another young stud whose best years are still ahead of him. Like Stingley, he is just 23 years old and will be 27 when the games in LA roll around. Last year, Anderson had 14.5 sacks and a fumble recovery en route to the Texans divisional round loss to Kansas City. PFF recently had him on their list of the top 25 players under 25 years old, so it's safe to say he's got the youth to continue to develop.
Will Anderson Jr had a 60 pressure & 14.5 sack year 2 for the Texans in just 16 games including the playoffs.

3. WR Nico Collins - Pinson, Alabama
Collins is going to have to fight for a spot on Team USA, but it's not unlikely for him to make it come 2028. The Texans wideout has proven himself as one of the best receivers in the league with his past few seasons of dominant performance in tandem with quarterback CJ Stroud. Even after having to miss time last season due to injury, the receiver still eclipsed the 1,000 yard mark on 68 receptions.
His 367 playoff receiving yards are 3rd highest among wide receivers since 2022, showing that he can show up on the biggest stage. If he can continue his success, his name will have to be brought up come next olympics.
