According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, 49ers WR Jauan Jennings, who is scheduled to make $7.5 million this season in the final year of his deal, wants a new contract or a trade. Jennings, who is coming off a career year, had 77 catches for 975 yards and six touchdowns. Jennings has a current market value of $10 million per year, according to Spotrac.

3 Teams That Make The Most Sense To Land Jennings

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers have been one of the most aggressive teams this offseason. They are clearly trying to win now and want to end their eight-year playoff win drought. Although they made headlines by acquiring DK Metcalf via trade, their depth behind him is uncertain. The current group includes Calvin Austin III, Roman Wilson, and Robert Woods. None of them offer the great hands or third-down reliability that Jennings provides. For a veteran quarterback like Aaron Rodgers, Jennings would be the ideal safety blanket, similar to what he was for Brock Purdy in San Francisco. His presence could also prevent defenses from double-teaming DK Metcalf.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers are entering a crucial year with Justin Herbert and could be one of the more ideal Jauan Jennings trade destinations given their need for a true outside receiver. Jennings would fit well in Greg Roman’s offense, offering a tough, chain-moving option alongside Ladd McConkey in the slot. While he may not be a traditional WR1, Jennings has what it takes to play as a genuine X receiver. Standing at 6 feet 3, he can win with physicality, contested catches, and smart route running. His presence outside would open up opportunities for intermediate and deep passes for Herbert, who has struggled to find consistent outside targets since Keenan Allen’s departure.

Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders are still looking for an X receiver to complete their offense. While Jacobi Meyers excels in the slot and star tight end Brock Bowers is a key player, Jennings could give them the presence they need on the outside. Defenses wouldn’t be able to focus solely on Bowers, opening the field even more for Meyers and Jennings. Adding Jennings would create a more balanced and unpredictable passing attack, which is exactly what Geno Smith needs.

Jennings Could Shine With Fresh Start

Jauan Jennings may just be starting to gain attention, but he is still one of the most underrated wide receivers in the league. When he had the opportunity to play a larger role after Brandon Aiyuk’s season-ending ACL and MCL injury last year, Jennings took full advantage. In nine games without Aiyuk, Jennings put up 52 catches for 571 yards. He demonstrated that he can be more than just a backup. He proved he can be reliable and can excel in critical moments. At 28 years old, Jennings has several strong seasons ahead and could be entering the prime of his career. A new opportunity or contract that reflects his true market value could take his game to the next level. It would give him more confidence and help him reach his full potential as a key player in an offense.
