The football world is in mourning today as the soccer-playing son of a former NFL and CFL star passed away at the age of 20.
Last night, the CFL's Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced the passing of DePaul University soccer player Chase Stegall. The 20-year-old soccer player is the son of former wide receiver Milt Stegall, who played professionally for 17 years split between the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals and the Blue Bombers.
"We are heartbroken to learn of the sudden and tragic passing of Chase Stegall, beloved son of Blue Bombers legend Milt Stegall," Blue Bombers President Wade Miller said in a statement.
"Chase was a bright and talented young man with a promising future, and his loss is felt deeply across our entire Blue Bombers family.
"Our hearts go out to Milt, Darlene, and the entire Stegall family during this unimaginable time. We mourn them and extend our deepest condolences, love, and support."

Even more prayers have been pouring in from NFL, CFL and soccer fans alike:
"We are devastated to share the passing of our brother, Chase Stegall. Our heartfelt condolences are with his family, friends and everyone who knew him and loved him. He will forever be a Blue Demon," DePaul Men's Soccer said in a statement.
"Just gut-wrenching news. Milt & I shared many conversations about Chase while he was being recruited & I remember how proud he was when he accepted his ⚽️ scholarship to DePaul. My thoughts & prayers go out to my teammate and his family," TSN's Farhan Lalji wrote.
"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Chase Stegall. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and the DePaul community at this time," the Big East Conference wrote.
"We are devastated to share the passing of our brother, Chase Stegall. Our heartfelt condolences are with his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him. He will forever be remembered by SSA," wrote the Southern Soccer Academy Swarm.
"Heartbroken to hear about the passing of Chase Stegall. I remember him as the cutest little kid who wore his toddler Stegall jersey while Milt was with the Bombers. My heart goes out to the entire Stegall family during this unimaginable time," another user on X said.
