Buccaneers’ Wide Receiver Emeka Egbuka enters Week Three looking to bounce back against the Minnesota Vikings. The rookie wide receiver has produced 79 yards and one touchdown through two games.
Egbuka opened the season with five receptions for 63 yards against Cincinnati. His production dropped against Cleveland, where he caught three passes for 16 yards and a touchdown.
The Buccaneers now face a Minnesota defense that has allowed opportunities to perimeter receivers. Egbuka could benefit from a more aggressive offensive approach in Tampa Bay’s home matchup.
– Targets: 7-9
– Receptions: 5-7
– Receiving Yards: 60-80 yards
– Receiving Touchdowns: 0-1
– Rushing Attempts: 0-1
– Rushing Yards: 0-5 yards
Egbuka has played more than 86 percent of Tampa Bay’s offensive snaps through two games. That playing time gives him plenty of opportunities to rebound.
His 17.7 percent target share ranks below what his playing time suggests. He also has three deep targets and two red-zone targets entering Week Three.
Minnesota’s defense has shown an aggressive approach under Brian Flores. That aggression could create opportunities for Egbuka when Tampa Bay gets the ball out quickly.
The Vikings have also allowed production to perimeter receivers this season. Egbuka’s yards per route run increases against Minnesota’s preferred two-high coverage structure.
Jalen McMillan has practiced fully ahead of the matchup. His return could affect Egbuka’s target competition, but it should also create more space for Tampa Bay’s receivers.
– Targets: 8
– Receptions: 6
– Receiving Yards: 72
– Receiving Touchdowns: 1
– Rushing Attempts: 1
– Rushing Yards: 3
Egbuka should see a larger role against Minnesota after a quiet Week Two performance. His six-reception projection reflects his expected involvement rather than his recent production.
The touchdown projection also builds on Egbuka’s red-zone usage through two games. If Tampa Bay moves the ball better, another scoring opportunity should follow.
Prediction: Six receptions for 72 yards and one touchdown, plus one carry for three yards.
