Two head coaches have already been fired this NFL season. With eight weeks left before the playoffs, we wouldn't be shocked if another coach is shown the door.
After a 1-5 start to the season, the Tennessee Titans fired head coach Brian Callahan. His offense struggled under his command, scoring only 83 combined points. According to ESPN Research, that’s the lowest six-game mark for the franchise since 1985.
It wasn't until Week 10 that Brian Daboll was let go by the New York Giants. The former Coach of the Year had a 20-40-1 record with the G-Men. Despite his success with Jaxson Dart, he was unable to maintain fourth-quarter leads this season.
“The past few seasons have been nothing short of disappointing, and we have not met our expectations for this franchise," Giants president John Mara and chairman Steve Tisch said. "We understand the frustrations of our fans, and we will work to deliver a significantly improved product. We appreciate Coach Daboll for his contributions to our organization. We wish the Daboll family all the best in the future.”
Now that Callahan and Daboll have been fired, the focus shifts over to another head coach on the hot seat.
The Atlanta Falcons were so convinced they'd be a contender this season they mortgaged their 2026 first-round pick. Well, they find themselves at 3-6 heading into Week 11.
Despite having chances to knock off the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts, they failed to come up big when it mattered most. Now, the Falcons are facing a must-win game against the Carolina Panthers.
If the Falcons drop Sunday's game to the Panthers, it wouldn't shock us to see the franchise part ways with Morris. For what it's worth, he's the odds-on favorite (-140) to be the next coach fired.
Morris is currently 32-53 overall as an NFL head coach.
