Predictions On Tap Week 3: Bears vs Eagles

The Eagles come to town following a narrow victory over the Tennessee Titans. They face mounting pressure as their defense and rushing attack leave much to be desired through the first two weeks of the season. This game is also their chance to avenge the brutal beatdown the Bears handed them on Black Friday last season. Will they overcome their recent struggles against Keenum and company, or will the seat get even hotter for Nick Sirianni?

Now on to the predictions!

Michael Tyspin: Bears 24, Eagles 21

This prediction is assuming that Tyson Bagent is starting on Monday, given the news that Bagent has cleared concussion protocol. The run game should be back to the standard, and I believe Bagent can get the job done.

Nick DeMao: Bears 31, Eagles 21

In honor of spooky season, Case Keenum, Caleb Williams, and Tyson Bagent all travel to a Chicago-area witch doctor on Saturday armed with a vintage DVD of the Minneapolis Miracle. The witch doctor throws this DVD into a cauldron, adds some other crap, and Case Keenum drinks this potion. As a result, Case Keenum conjures a performance fit for the ages, throwing for 350 yards and four touchdowns against the Eagles. Having not played meaningful football in years, the well-rested Keenum caps off the evening with a naked bootleg scramble and notches his 5th touchdown. The defense stifles the Eagles’ stable of hobbled running backs, and Jaylon Johnson gets his first interception of the season. After the game, the potion wears off, and Keenum shrivels into a prune and goes on IR but it won’t matter as Bagent and Williams will be waiting in the wings.

Samir Patel: Eagles 24, Bears 17

The quarterback situation is simply too much for me to overlook. The Eagles remain one of the most talented rosters in football. Asking a third-string quarterback to step into a Monday Night Football matchup against an Eagles team loaded with playmakers is a difficult proposition. I believe the Bears fight hard and find offensive success in spurts, but ultimately the Bears struggle to generate enough explosive plays to keep pace. The defense keeps things competitive for much of the night, but the Eagles pull away late to secure the victory.

Seth Conklin: Bears 17, Eagles 26

I am just not optimistic going into this one. I think the Eagles’ defensive line will be out for blood after last year’s debacle. Keenum will do enough to move the chains and get some points on the board, but it won’t be enough to keep pace with the Eagles. Add to that the defensive line inefficiencies and I think the Eagles’ run game will get back on track. I would not be shocked if the Bears pulled off the upset, but I just think there is too much working against them at this time.

Ron Luce: Bears 23, Eagles 20

This game screams body blows. Both teams need a win, and with the home field advantage, the Bears will want to clean up the Birds on MNF. The Bears will get the running game going. Frankly, they have no choice. With Keenum starting, the rushing attack will make his life easier as the Bears look to secure a win. Time of possession will be key, but I don’t foresee a high-scoring affair.

Quinten Krzysko: Bears 25, Eagles 24

I’m picking the upset. The Eagles have scored exactly 24 points in each of their first two games. I think the Bears find a way to keep them right there again. The formula is straightforward: run the football, control the clock, and make the Eagles respect the deep passing game just enough to keep the box from getting overloaded. If the Bears can stay within striking distance into the fourth quarter, I think Soldier Field and a gritty, physical game plan carry them across the finish line. Give me the Bears, with a game-winning two-point conversion to win.

Bears Offensive Line Stumbled vs Vikings, But the Sky Isn’t Falling

This will either be a get-right game for the Eagles or a signature win for Coach Johnson. The Eagles have a lot on the line heading into this Monday night matchup, considering they’re up against a third-string quarterback. The pressure will be on overdrive if they lose this. On the other side, this game is a bit more “house money” for the Bears. A loss would not push them out of favor in the long run. That being said, a win would reaffirm this team as a contender and Johnson as a top playcaller in this league.
